EVENS ARCHITECTS

This home takes as its inspiration the rambling, rural architecture of the hills of southern Europe.  Here, we carefully synthesized these prototypes to support a modern California lifestyle. Natural materials predominate:  rubble stone masonry, rough wood timbers and salvaged terra cotta roof tile.  Our version of this traditional European vocabulary features broad openings with sliding steel framed glass panels, to encourage living in the open air.  The landscape design is central to the ethos of the project, with a blend of local and Mediterranean plantings.
